The Grand Canyon, the strip, the casinos, the humidity, it was Vegas. Rented a pickup truck (my bucket list) and we drove, sweated, enjoyed life.
The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon, where people ignore the warning signs and barrier rope, risking their life for a selfie.
Vegas was one of our first big trips and it was during COVID, we weren’t sure how the experience would be, but I’m so glad we did. Vegas was nearly empty so I actually think we got a far better experience, than if we went pre-COVID. One of the days we chose to visit The Grand Canyon, I have never seen anything like this before, so when you first view it, you’re kinda gobsmacked on how big it actually is. That being said, once you see it, no matter what view you take, its still a giant hole in the ground with no ‘new’ views. Although, it doesn’t take away how spectacular it is
We went on a day where the sun was at boiling point, there was hardly any tourists because…COVID. It was that hot that I had my first very close encounter with a squirrel begging for food and water, poor thing. Even though it was basically empty, we did witness a few fools going past the boundary rope, to risk their life for a selfie. Watching them even made me feel sick knowing how dangerous and high they were. Please don’t do this. To be honest i’m surprised that we are alive 3 years on, because when we decided to leave, my husband thought it be a great idea to take another route back to our car. Honestly, I think we must have walked for hours and no one was in sight, the sun was so hot that i’m surprised we didn’t burn holes in our shoes. We eventually made it back to the car though. Yes we did regret the detour route – keep to the actual route back to the car park guys.

Sin City
The humidity in this place cannot be described, only experienced. You legit need to walk through the hotels to move down the strip, in order to survive. We ventured outside in the evening though, because every city looks better at night. Honestly, this place doesn’t sleep, you lose all sense of time and you just want to be awake all day and night. I never got bored of this place, there was always something to do, even during COVID. I actually felt safer in Vegas during the pandemic than I did in Miami (I get to that in another blog post).
I will always love to keep going back to this place

The Hotels
When uploading the photos, I thought I had taken more unfortunately, I guess I didn’t take as many of the inside of the hotels. It’s a major shame because the hotels are absolutely incredible – one of my favourite parts of Vegas. I also apologise for not knowing which photo was taken in which hotel – I am posting this 3-4 years later and my husband is my memory box, I sadly cannot even remember what I did this morning.
The blue skies you see in the photos are not the actual sky, ITS THE CEILING of the hotel. They’ve made a little Italy and I actually felt like I was there. Guys, you can ride a GONDOLA through the hotel. There are larger than life waterfalls within hotels, live animals, inside rivers, different little cities as you walk through, the taste of the world at your fingertips.
You also have entertainment, casinos, pools – the pool is your best friend when in Vegas, I only survived the daytime when sat in the pool. I also got incredibly drunk on one cocktail, so I didn’t drink for the rest of the week. Also funny story: It was my first time tipping – usually my husband always sorted the bill but he wasn’t there this time. So I ordered a coke by the pool, and the server gave me the bill there and then and I sorta panicked, because she was just standing there looking at me. So I accidentally tipped 100% – I tipped $5, so I paid $10 for one coke! It’s like my math went completely out the window – or perhaps I was still drunk from that cocktail. My husband wasn’t best pleased when I told him. LOL

The Pick-up Truck

We hired a pick up truck to drive from Vegas to The Grand Canyon, and I was so thrilled we did, as it was on my bucket list. I had never felt so American before LOL. The weather, the location, the vehicle, the company – it was one of my favourite holidays. On the way back from the Grand Canyon we decided to drive to this location – I have to ask my husband where this was and update you! It was excluded but had some families on their boats and having BBQ’s, we got there at the perfect time to get the perfect shots of the skies. It was a brilliant way to end such a great day. I also got a lot of pictures of me and the pick up truck of course.
