The park encompasses nearly 50,000 acres along the Atlantic Coastline of Maine
Acadia is the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline of the United States, and it is also basically in our backyard. It is located in Maine, one of our neighbouring states. This was a short little camping getaway for us back in August 2021. We stayed at Bar Harbour. I was 2 months pregnant with my first at the time!
This natural beauty sits within the top 10 of national parks visited with 4 million visitors per year. There are 27 miles of historic motor roads, 158 miles of hiking trails and 45 miles of carriage roads.
We explored the national park by hiking, paddle boarding, beach walking and eating. You have to forgive me, I don’t remember exactly where we hiked, but if you’ve already been and recognise where, send me an email! Perhaps I should have started this blog when the memories were fresh!
Nevertheless, wherever we hiked, it was absolutely breathtaking. The hiking wasn’t actually that bad. I remember there were trails that were of different difficulty and this was marked on the map. As I was newly pregnant and our journey to become pregnant wasn’t the easiest, we kept it short, easy and mostly flat.
The hike we did with the amazing views of the islands within the park, we drove up – which if you’re not a hiker, its good to know you can decide to drive instead!
We are actually going back to main in the Summer of 2025 – we’re going glamping with the kids! Not in Acadia but I hope to be back here soon!
